Getting started

Yoga therapy is a one-to-one, clinically-informed practice that uses yoga tools — movement, breathwork, meditation and body awareness — to address specific health conditions or goals. Unlike a group yoga class, every session is built entirely around you: your body, your history, your needs. There’s no keeping up with the class, no performing poses — just a thoughtful, therapeutic process guided at your own pace.

Think of it as the bridge between yoga and healthcare — drawing on the wisdom of both.

None at all. Many clients come having never set foot on a yoga mat. Yoga therapy meets you exactly where you are — physically, mentally, and experientially. If anything, a blank slate can be a gift: there are no habits to unlearn, no comparisons to let go of.

That’s exactly what the free discovery call is for. We’ll have an honest conversation about what’s going on in your body and life, and together we’ll identify the most fitting starting point. Many clients find that two or three specialties overlap — and that’s normal. We design your programme around the full picture.

Yes — and in many cases, it’s where yoga therapy truly shines. We work collaboratively with your existing healthcare team (GP, physio, specialist) and always begin with a thorough intake to understand your full health history. Yoga therapy is gentle, adaptive, and designed to complement — not replace — medical care. If in doubt, get in touch and we’ll advise honestly.

The Nervous system reset is designed for people whose bodies and minds are stuck in a chronic state of stress, vigilance or burnout — even when there’s nothing acutely wrong. This is incredibly common. Using vagal nerve toning, coherent breathwork, restorative yoga, yoga nidra and sound practices, we work directly with the autonomic nervous system to help your body find its way back to safety and rest. It’s particularly suited to people experiencing burnout, anxiety, chronic fatigue, sleep disruption, or the aftermath of prolonged stress.

For many people, yes — significantly. Chronic pain is rarely just structural; it’s deeply entangled with the nervous system, movement patterns, breathing habits, and how we hold tension. Yoga therapy works on all of these layers simultaneously. Clients often notice meaningful change within four to six sessions, though this varies by individual and condition.

Not at all. Postural work in yoga therapy is gentle, curious, and nervous-system-informed. We’re not forcing your body into ‘correct’ positions — we’re re-educating habitual patterns from the inside out, so that better posture becomes natural rather than effortful. Most clients find it surprisingly relaxing.

Physiotherapy is excellent and we work alongside it, not instead of it. Where physio often focuses on specific structures and biomechanics, yoga therapy adds the layers of breath, body awareness, nervous system regulation, and whole-body integration. Together they form a much more complete picture. Many clients find that yoga therapy helps them make sense of and embody what their physio has been telling them.

Sessions & format

Every session is different, but a typical one begins with a short check-in — how are you feeling today, what’s shifted since last time. From there we move into practice: this might be breathwork, gentle therapeutic movement, a body-scan or yoga nidra, or a combination. Sessions close with space to reflect and discuss what you noticed. You’ll always leave with something to take home — a short practice, a breath technique, a simple intention.

Initial sessions are 75 minutes to allow time for a thorough intake. Ongoing sessions are typically 60 minutes. Frequency depends on your goals and programme — most clients begin with weekly sessions, then move to fortnightly as they build their home practice. We’ll discuss what makes sense for you from the start.

Yes — all programmes are available online via video call, and many clients find them just as effective as in-person. You’ll need a quiet space, a yoga mat or soft surface, and a device with a camera. Online sessions make it possible to work together regardless of where you are in the world.

Always. Home practice is central to how yoga therapy creates lasting change — the real transformation happens in the days between sessions. Your home practice will be short, specific, and genuinely doable: nothing that requires an hour a day or advanced flexibility. We build it incrementally, so it actually sticks.

Most clients start with just 10–15 minutes a day — and that’s more than enough.
Practical information

Comfortable, loose, or stretchy clothing you can move freely in is perfect — nothing special is needed. For in-person sessions, please bring a water bottle and arrive a few minutes early to settle in. A yoga mat is ideal, though not essential; we can always work with what you have available.

For online sessions, having a quiet, clear space around your mat and a device positioned at eye level works best. If needed, we may also incorporate a few simple and affordable props that are easy to access or purchase, such as cushions, blocks, straps, or blankets.

This depends on your goals and what you’re working with. As a general guide: some clients notice significant shifts in as few as four to six sessions; others choose to work together over months or years as an ongoing wellness practice. After your initial session, we’ll discuss a realistic timeline together. There’s no pressure to commit to a long package before you’re ready.

We offer both single sessions and programme packages — you choose what works for you.

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full. We understand that life happens — if something unexpected arises, please get in touch as soon as possible and we’ll always try to find a solution.
